Welcome to Vastu Mandala Chintamani.
For all readers — and especially those seeking my consultation — I have always recommended reading every article in this section with complete attention before booking a consultation, if not then during the process. Doing so offers a strong foundational understanding of the Vedic principles that govern classical Vastu.
This awareness protects you, empowers you, and ensures that no one can mislead you with shortcuts, half-truths, or fear-based tactics.
Language Barrier
Although the original content of my website is written in English, I have enabled auto-translation into Hindi and Bengali because these are the languages I can personally communicate in with clarity. There is absolutely no intention to disregard or exclude any other regional languages. If anyone feels otherwise or takes offence, I sincerely apologize in advance.
The Research Journey Behind This Work
This particular sequence of articles took me months to compile and refine, supported by over two years of continuous research, because it forms the foundational framework of my entire approach to Classical Vastu Sastra.
I have been writing and free consulting for over 13 years on my other website, raganugaprembhakti.wordpress.com and this paid work tries to carry the same depth, sincerity, and commitment to genuine awareness that guide everything I write.
As a follower of Krishna, I have often reflected on His emphasis on Vastu sastra in the planning of Dvaraka and Indraprastha—an inspiration that continues to motivate my deeper exploration of this science.
Alright, I won’t bore you any further with these jargons. Let’s move on to the next section.
Clarifying Principles, Not Judging Practitioners
It is also important to clarify that consultants who use the Modern Vastu Shakti Chakra are not automatically fraudulent or ill-intentioned, just as classical practitioners are not automatically saints.
Every system has sincere, ethical practitioners as well as those who may misuse it. Everything discussed here pertains solely to foundational principles and conceptual differences— not to the personal integrity, intentions, or character of any consultant or lineage.
Acknowledgements

On a personal note, writing these articles has been an emotional journey. I began my own study through the modern Vastu approach and learned many valuable things from it.
My sincere gratitude goes to the creators and promoters of Modern Vastu. Through their widespread and often aggressive marketing, Vastu reached the masses—and without that popularization, I may not have been inspired to dive so deeply into the classical system. For that, I remain genuinely thankful.
As a Reiki Grandmaster who experiments directly with energy, symbolic tools, and remedial methods, I eventually observed patterns and distortions that pushed me to explore deeper. This exploration led me to Dr. Anand Bharadwaj, a very senior Vedic Classical Vastu consultant whose teachings encouraged me to study the classical system more seriously.
Although I still disagree with him on certain points—his influence was important. His teachings played a significant role in motivating further research that eventually shaped these articles.
A Note on Sources, Study, and Inner Guidance
While writing these articles, I am aware that much of the content here is unique and not easily available on the internet. But the foundational principles are already established by classical practitioners and teachers and is not my creation. My study is rooted in classical scriptures, traditional commentaries, and love for the foundational principles of physics which I have used in my contents wherever applicable, which do not always allow for direct external referencing. I offer my heartfelt gratitude to my Ista, Srimati Radharani and Sri Krishna , whose internal guidance has continually inspired and refined this research which is still going on various principles.
Vāstu Is Flexible, Not Fear-Based
Vāstu is not rigid—it is inherently flexible. Fear-mongering has absolutely no place in this science. No home or building will ever be 100% structurally compliant with every classical rule in modern concrete society setup due to various factors, and that’s perfectly fine. There are always remedies, corrections, or harmonizing adjustments.
It is also important to remember that every direction—not just limited to North and East—contains two harmonious main door entry padas, including South and West. Even North and East have inauspicious padas; their corrections are simply easier compared to some other directions.
For other directions and padas, remedies exist as well, depending on orientation, layout, external factors and the nature of the imbalance.
If you wish to understand when the facing direction—such as North or East -facing—becomes relevant and when zonal padas should be given higher priority, please open the article linked below in a new tab and read it at your convenience. This is not a conflict between modern and classical Vastu but individual understanding. I have used sarcasm here in a non offensive manner .
Although each article in this series revisits certain ideas from earlier posts—mainly to help readers who discover them individually through search—it is still highly recommended to read the articles in their sequential order. Doing so ensures a seamless philosophical flow and a clearer understanding of the overall framework.
Wu Xing vs Classical Vastu
This foundational article examines how Modern Vastu absorbed ideas from Chinese Feng Shui—especially the Wu Xing cycle and Bagua mapping—and how this blending unintentionally distorts classical Vastu’s spatial–energetic framework.
It explains why Vastu is a fixed spatial science while Wu Xing is a cyclical temporal model, and why merging the two leads to wrong elemental directions, flawed remedies, and conceptual contradictions.
The article also traces the historical reasons behind this shift and introduces modern, non-destructive classical remedies that do not rely on borrowed cosmology.
Why Modern Vastu’s Compass System Breaks the Vedic Framework
This article breaks down the most critical conceptual flaw in Modern Vastu: the use of Bagua-style angular divisions and Wu Xing elemental cycles in place of the classical pada vinyasa system.
It explains why these borrowed tools distort the Vastu Purusha Mandala, how directional keywords oversimplify complex Devata zones, and why mixing Chinese temporal cosmology with Vedic spatial cosmology produces contradictory results. A must-read before studying any other part of the modern–classical debate.
From Upanishad Elemental Creation to Modern Scientific Alignment
This article unpacks the true Vedic understanding of elemental creation based on the Upaniṣadic sequence (Ātman → Ākāśa → Vayu → Agni → Apah → Prithvi) and contrasts it with modern scientific models of cosmic evolution.
It explains why the Pancha Mahabhutas are not physical substances but metaphysical principles describing how consciousness descends into matter—from the subtlest field (Ākāśa) to the densest form (Prithvi).
The piece then bridges Vedic cosmology, Saṅkhya philosophy, astrophysics, and planetary formation to show that both traditions share the same underlying idea of irreversible condensation from subtle to gross.
Understanding Classical Vastu as a Horizontal Model of Environmental Balance
This article explores how Classical Vastu uses the Vastu Purusha Maṇḍala as a horizontal spatial framework to create functional equilibrium within a home, grounded in natural inputs like heat, airflow, moisture, and structural stability.
It explains why these principles have nothing to do with metaphysical elemental creation or the cyclic models promoted in Modern Vastu.
Each elemental direction—Agni, Vayu, Apah, Prithvi, and Akasha—is examined through both traditional logic and scientific reasoning, showing how real-world dynamics, climate, and architecture shape Vastu’s practical applications. Have discussed some remedies and detailed understanding of planted aquariums.
Prakriti, Planets, and the Vastu Purusha Mandala: A Unified Vedic Framework
This article explains how Prakriti—the elemental blueprint of Vata, Pitta, and Kapha—creates a unified bridge between Ayurveda, Jyotish, and Vastu. It breaks down the elemental structure of the Doshas, the planetary rulers behind each constitution, and how Mahadashas, Antardashas, and seasonal changes dynamically influence an individual’s inner balance.
The article also exposes how Modern Vastu misapplies foreign systems like the Wu Xing cycle to the Vastu Purusha Maṇḍala, especially in color remedies.
Through classical logic, planetary mapping, and practical examples, it clarifies why color therapy, crystals, and directional corrections must be based on Vedic principles—not modern shortcuts or symbolic color charts.
Why Evaporation, Condensation, and Combustion Are Not Elemental Creation
This article dismantles the Modern Vastu myth that evaporation, condensation, or combustion represent “elemental creation.”
Drawing from the Vedic tattva-krama and the spatial logic of the Vastu Purusha Mandala, it explains why physical state changes—like water becoming vapor or wood turning to ash—never equate to the metaphysical emergence of Air, Water, or Earth.
Classical Vastu follows the one-directional cosmological sequence of Ākāśa → Vāyu → Agni → Apah → Pṛthvī, which cannot reverse.
By correlating scientific principles with Vedic ontology, the article demonstrates how Modern Vastu’s cyclic elemental model contradicts both science and scripture, creating conceptual distortions that mislead practitioners and readers alike.
Attitude of Gratitude and Love: The Key to Unlocking the Hidden Potential
This article explains why Vastu remedies work best when practiced with an Attitude of Gratitude and Love. While Modern Vastu often reduces devatas to mere “energy fields,” classical Vastu recognizes gives respect to Devatas and that gratitude aligns the Hrit Padma Chakra(Seat of Parmatma) and Anahata chakra(Heart), harmonizing our inner space (Chidakasa) with the Vastu Purusha Mandala of the home.
This is not about daily religious ritual, sectarian identity, or daily worship of the Vastu Devatas . It is about the simple act of acknowledging the higher intelligences and subtle forces present in one’s living space.
When this alignment occurs, the dwelling becomes a conscious mandala that naturally supports health, harmony, and manifestation.
